The Nurtured Nest has been created for one beautiful purpose: to give you and your child a dedicated moment in time to slow down, reconnect and breathe.
We know that little ones do not find calm in isolation. They are deeply tuned into your heartbeat, your breathing, your pace and your presence. When you feel safe, softened and supported, your child naturally begins to feel that too.
This is why The Nurtured Nest is not just a children’s activity group. It is a peaceful, nurturing sanctuary for both parent and child — a space where you can rest, fill your own cup and gently support your little one’s confidence, creativity and sense of safety.
Set within Creative Abundance Studio Ltd t/a The Potteries, our Friday morning experience blends Montessori-inspired exploration, creative play, sensory discovery, gentle movement and somatic calming practices.
Everything is intentionally unhurried, so you and your child can arrive exactly as you are.
At The Nurtured Nest, we believe that children thrive when they feel connected, not rushed.
Our space has been thoughtfully designed to help you pause from the busyness of everyday life and step into a softer rhythm.
Here, there is no pressure for your child to perform, complete or follow a fixed outcome. Instead, they are invited to explore, create, move, rest and connect in a way that feels natural to them.
Some children may spend the morning painting. Some may stay close to you in the cosy corner. Some may move between sensory play, songs, snacks and stillness. Every response is welcome.
This is a place of flow, not force.
Sophie creates our hands-on Montessori-inspired play and exploration activities using a beautiful variety of natural, sensory and creative materials.
Your child is free to touch, make, build, sort, imagine and explore at their own pace.
These experiences are designed to support early development through curiosity, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, confidence and independent discovery.
Activities may include natural sensory trays, creative keepsakes, clay-inspired play, seasonal exploration, imaginative small-world play and gentle making experiences.
Sophie also brings joy through fun and healthy themed treats for the little ones. For example, on our Ocean Sanctuary day, children enjoyed imaginative Oreo crab cookies surrounded by fresh fruit “seaweed” and little swimming fish.
It is playful, thoughtful and full of wonder.
Caroline focuses on creating the calming atmosphere that holds the whole room.
Our cosy sensory sanctuary is a deeply comforting corner filled with soft cushions, warm blankets, dreamcatchers, gentle sounds, wind chimes and sacred drum energy. It is a space where you and your child can soften, pause and reconnect.
Together, we use simple somatic techniques, soft lighting, nursery rhymes, gentle songs and grounding movement to help your nervous system settle. These small moments of calm help both parent and child feel safe, held and present.
Previous Nurtured Nest resources have included child-friendly somatic breathing such as the “Buzzing” bee technique, inviting children and grown-ups to breathe in gently and hum out like a bee returning to its hive.
This is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about giving yourself permission to breathe.
